HIT Founding Partner Roshni Nedungadi Highlights Importance of AAPI Community post-Roe, Continues Firm’s Emphasis on AAPI Voters
Last week, I published an op-ed in AsAmNews, making it clear that Democrats should enlist the AAPI community in the fight for reproductive justice rights.
Over the years, I have continued to emphasize the important role Asian Americans will play in America’s future and the Democratic voting electorate. From 2016 to 2020, AAPI voters experienced the largest vote surge among all U.S. demographic groups- with 69% of Asian voters supporting Democrats. Following the 2021 GA Senate runoff, I authored an op-ed in AsAmNews, to highlight the record-breaking AAPI turnout that propelled newly elected Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock across the finish line.
Because of our work with Rising Voices in Michigan, we learned that the AAPI community was motivated to counter the hate and racism of the Trump era. I co-authored an op-ed in Rising Voices AAF with Laura Misumi, the Executive Director of the Michigan Asian American Progressives, and appeared on Cheddar News to explain the phenomena.
All of this is to say that AAPI voters will continue to be critical in future elections and could provide the margin of victory for Democrats across the country. Along with our dedicated research team at HIT Strategies, we will continue to work to ensure that AAPI voters are recognized for their strength, diversity, and political power in every future election.
