HIT’s Latest Survey Report on Black Voters Highlights Their Attitudes Toward President Biden, Congressional Democrats, and Supreme Court

In the latest BlackTrack report, we continued to highlight Black voters’ attitudes on Biden’s and the Democrats’ job performance, as well as their perceptions of the Supreme Court and the Biden administration’s agenda. The January survey shows that Biden’s approval rating stands at 73%, compared to 76% in December. Despite the decline in approval, he has maintained a supermajority approval among Black voters.

One noteworthy finding was Black voters’ acknowledgment of Biden’s increased focus on voting rights. The percentage of Black voters who reported Biden as making voting rights one of his top three priorities rose significantly, from 8% to 21%.

President Biden’s Job Performance

Biden’s approval rating among Black voters has declined across age groups.

Congressional Democrats’ Performance

Since September of last year, all groups of Black voters have been souring on Congressional Democrats.

Supreme Court’s Job Approval

Black voters’ approval rating of the job that the Supreme Court is doing has remained steady since November of last year.

Biden Administration’s Handling of Voting Rights

Black voters increasingly believe voting rights have been one of Biden’s top priorities.

All groups of Black voters increasingly believe voting rights should be one of President Biden’s top priorities.

Black voters, across age groups, overwhelmingly support the Freedom to Vote Act.

BlackTrack is a monthly survey by HIT Strategies to track the evolving opinions of Black voters. The recurring monthly national survey of 1,000 Black voters (ages 18+) monitors current Black voters’ attitudes on social and political issues. In addition, it disaggregates the data into demographic groups to understand the full diversity of Black voters’ attitudes.
