HIT’s Hot Takes: Defending Judge Jackson, Mobilizing Democrats, and SOTU
Last month, we rang the alarm, urging Democrats to affirm and defend Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s record during the SCOTUS hearings. It was a pivotal opportunity to engage and mobilize the Democratic base. We sent a memo to our democratic partners with our data showing how seizing the moment to defend Judge Jackson could help mobilize Democrats.
We previewed the case with The Washington Post in a column by Paul Waldman and Greg Sargent.
We also spoke with WURD TV and Radio’s Charles Ellison on Reality Check about the hearings and discussed if Democrats did enough to support and defend Judge Jackson.
Last month also saw President Biden’s first SOTU address. We thought it was an important moment for the President to tout his first-year accomplishments.
Leading up to the SOTU, we explained how Black voters experience inflation and what they wanted to hear from the President, in Forbes.
My partner Terrance Woodbury did the same with the Grio, urging President Biden to tout his policy success to Black voters.
After the address, Woodbury spoke with The Washington Post to discuss Biden’s speech.
Lastly, HIT Strategies’ research, in collaboration with the New Georgia Project, was quoted in an article in USA Today.
