Since the end of the Obama era, Democrats have experienced a continual erosion of support among men of color. This decade-long trend is not unique to any one candidate and has accelerated since 2016 – culminating in a significant shift toward President Trump in the 2024 election. It’s clear that men of color are emerging as the new swing voters in American politics. Our panel will explore what is causing these shifts among men of color, how they are reacting to messaging from both political parties, and what Democrats must do to win their votes. Orie Ward, Chief Operating Officer, HIT Strategies

Orie is the Chief Operating Officer at HIT Strategies, overseeing accounting, HR, IT, and legal affairs, and driving innovation in research services for underserved communities. He also served as Principal and Head of Operations at OzoneX Capital, a New York-based venture capital fund, where he managed the sourcing and due diligence of over 3,000 ventures and supported 13 companies. With over 15 years of experience in management consulting, Orie specializes in strategy, organizational design, and operational effectiveness. He has led innovation labs and social impact initiatives for major companies like Google, Coca-Cola, and Ford, positively impacting over 400 million people globally. Orie’s blend of public and private sector experience positions him as a visionary leader in business and social impact.
