Salaam is a social impact strategist working at the intersection of media, culture, and politics. As Senior Communications Manager at HIT Strategies, she leads the organization’s communications efforts to elevate HIT’s voice and amplify its research in support of progressive issues. Prior to joining HIT, Salaam worked at the Hollywood-based firm Propper Daley x BPI, where she partnered with foundations, brands and high-net-worth individuals to leverage their resources and brand influence to shift narratives and drive behavior change through innovative culture change strategies and unique partnerships. There she worked across an array of issues ranging from workforce development, maternal mental health, foreign aid, reproductive justice, civic engagement, democracy protection, and more.

Salaam’s career is rooted in both the nonprofit sector and academia. As a graduate student, she worked at the William Monroe Trotter Collaborative for Social Justice at Harvard Kennedy School under Rev. Cornell William Brooks, focusing on racial equity, voting rights, and public policy. She began her professional journey in the nonprofit sector working in wraparound human services, refugee resettlement, and civil rights.

Salaam holds a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, where she received the Afaf Kanafani prize for her senior thesis on women’s social movements.
