Oonagh is an Analyst at HIT Strategies, where she works within the Politics Pod to support research aimed at electing progressive candidates who will stand up for their communities at the national, state, and local level.
Her first exposure to politics came in the 2nd grade, when she went to a Hillary Clinton rally with a small sign made from printer paper, and her interest has only grown from there. Prior to joining HIT, Oonagh spent three years in academic research, primarily focusing on how geographic and pandemic-related trends affected suicide terrorism as a data analyst at CPOST, as well as developing tools for the United Nations Democracy Fund to identify and analyze authoritarian rhetoric in elections across the globe. Her first experience in polling came in the 2024 election at GSG, where she unexpectedly fell in love with her work trying to platform marginalized communities, both among the voting base and in office. She also worked with those championing abortion ballot initiatives, building clean energy initiatives across the aisle, and liberal candidates fighting to better-represent critical swing states and districts in Congress.
Oonagh graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Political Science and History, and a minor in Human Rights. In her free time, you can find her birdwatching, doing jigsaw puzzles, and searching for the best cold brew coffee in her home of North Carolina.
